Description

Knowing your vices brings you closer to your obsessions

Evolved from the popular low top Vice, Vice Mid flies casually but packs a punch with a protective mid-top upper and internal toe protection. Dirt jump and slopestyle riders will relish the pedal feel and compliance of the RC Fuzion outsole- an inverse, gradient diameter hexagon pattern that brings the pedal closer to the rider. Paired with the HIGH GRIP rubber, the sloped-angle inverse hexagons, varying in diameter from 9mm at the toe and heel to 7mm at the pedal contact area, allow the pedal to “inject” into the outsole for unrivaled sensitivity.

high grip icon. High grip is exclusively for RC Fusion

We utilize HIGH GRIP exclusively on our RC Fuzion outsole to realize the optimal blend of traction and adjustability. For dirt jump and Slopestyle athletes, this compound is ideal when neither grip nor throwing contest-winning tricks can be compromised.

an impact absorbing material, d30 is a staple in ride concepts shoes

We partner with D30 to incorporate impact absorbing materials in our insoles and medial collar protection throughout much of our line. This soft, lightweight and flexible material is ideal for footwear – reducing feedback from the trail and harsh impacts through our Zone Technology insoles and adding crank protection in our premium gravity and enduro models.

Great DJ and Park Shoe

I picked these up for DJ and skatepark sessions because I loved my Vice. The added ankle support is nice for botched spins and banging my ankles on the crankarms. Bonus that these look sick too so I can wear them out after riding without looking like I have on clown shoes.

Good shoes Great customer support!

Thanks RC for making shoes that fit well, feel good and look good! I will buy these again and highly recommend any RC products because they stand behind what they sell.
The shoes are comfortable and stable and strong and have better grip than vans. From riding DH to dirt jumps to skating, hiking and even playing basketball.
The extra toe protection is good (could be better) but good it is there. The ankle support and padding is also just right. I think the insole could be better, I don't like how the d3o sags but that's easily replicable.
Overall great shoe overall. Good stuff RC!

Good shoes for good pedals

I've felt like I've been taking crazy pills for the last 10 years. I came from bmx dirt jumping where pedals evolved to be mostly dual concave in order to provide a secure and stable platform for plenty of grip when the sole of a shoe conformed to it under a riders weight, also making foot repositioning easy with a waffle tread pattern by momentarily unweighting, without needing to completely lift the foot off the pedal.

For some bizarre reason in the mountain bike industry many flat pedal manufacturers started making pedals that are completely flat. My guess is that the designers didnt ride, they just were told to make a "flat pedal", and took it literally. The result is pedals that feel like your feet are constantly slipping off.

Another shoe company decided to solve this newly invented problem backwards by making stiff shoes that have no pedal feel with rubber thats so sticky you have to lift your foot completely off the pedal to reposition. This is like duct taping a leaky pipe instead of replacing it with one that works.

It's crazy to me that this is the standard. Large dual concave mountain bike pedals exist, but the majority use flat flat pedals with numb sticky sole shoes without thinking about it. I wouldn't care what other people ride if it wasn't causing a near monopoly on mtn bike flat pedal shoes. I was still wearing a pair of thrashed, shoe goo'd, 5 years out of production Teva's till I found out about the Vice mid.

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is I'm not a fan of suede, and I would like a lace strap. The sole however is perfect and thats what's most important. Shoes with similar soles have obviously been available for a long time, but not with the toe protection, which is a necessity to me after having some scary impacts while mtn biking with skate shoes. Flexibility is perfect too, slightly stiffer than skate shoes, but with great pedal feel, sinking into my pedals allowing secure grip and expression through corners, while being easy to reposition.

Thanks for making shoes for those of us that know how to select pedals that work properly.
