Coming from years of SPD wasn’t sure about soft soled flat shoes. Should have swapped years back.
Took a few rides to settle the footbed and get used to the grip but the only way to go now.
Mounted clips for a road ride and hated the float, love the wider shoe platform and grip when I want it and can move my foot when I need to.
Here in southern New Mexico it will get hot in the summer, not sure how well the live wire will breathe in hotter temps. May try a hellion of something more breathable.
Overall very happy with the shoes.
Been riding this shoe all year this year. Grip is good, very comfortable shoe, and they wear better than the last couple pairs of 5.10s I've had. The only downside for me is they squeak like crazy with my pedals. It's not the shoe rubbing against the crank arm, its on the pedals. Very odd, and very annoying. Currently am riding the Spank Oozy pedals.
Got my pair of Livewires last Tuesday. During the first two rides, the shoes weren’t fully broken in, however on the third ride today, they have. I have now officially deemed them to be my favorite riding shoes. The soles hold the pedal pins like glue with great pedal feel. The tongue is gusseted… the soles are nice and stiff… the comfort is supreme. And I can’t get over the simplicity and usefulness of the elastic lace tucks. How come no one ever thought of that before? I’m really impressed!
I normally wear 8.5, ordered a 9.0, glad I did. The fit is snug, but comfortable. I usually wear a thicker sock for extra cushion, not needed with these. They are comfortable to walk in and stiff enough on the pedals. Grip is tight, but not so tight you can't adjust. Even when my foot was out of place, I still had a secure hold on the pedal.
I wear an 11 to 11.5 depends on brand. went with 11.5 due to comments saying go 1/2 size up. 11.5 fit great. out of the box really comfortable and have great midfoot support. Nice grip on the pedals. Wish I would have found Ride Concepts sooner!!!!
