I ordered a pair of the LiveWire shoes in my normal shoe size (9.5). They were snug, which I expected for new shoes, and I expected them to expand a little as I wore them. 9...10 months later, no dice. The 9.5 were still snug and painful in the toe box area. I called Ride Concepts and they were super friendly and mentioned that yeah... the toe box doesn't expand out like a leather show or Vans. So, I ordered a size 10 in the Hellion as I wanted to try a better quality shoe. RIGHT AWAY, the 10 felt like a proper fit. The painful toe area of the 9.5 shoes was gone and these felt great. The difference in build quality between the LiveWire v. Hellion is not quickly discernable. When I look at them side-by-side and poke around, I can see where the quality goes up a notch with the Hellions. BUT... the LiveWire is perfectly excellent. If I had ordered a size 10 instead of the 9.5, I wouldn't bother looking at the Hellion because it's already a quality shoe with good grip. That being siad, I'm pleased with the Hellion's with their fit, grip, durability and build quality. Highly recommended.
I was told by a representative of the company to buy the same size RC Hellion riding shoes as I wear for my athletic shoes, but I had to send the first pair of Hellions back and get a half size larger and they seem to fit good. The soles (bottoms) are holding up pretty well but I only have about six hours of ride time on them as of this review but they grip my pedals very well. They have a very firm sole (shank?) and required some break in but after that they feel pretty good. I would definitely buy another set when these wear out, A++
I bought the Hellions as my third pair of riding shoes, because I wanted to compare them to my FiveTen Freerider Pros. So far I am very impressed. The stiffness and grip of the sole is exceptional, and the fit isit true to size. They are breathable, have good support and the laces are easy to tie and strong. I think these are unbeatable at the price point, especially compared to my Freerider Pros which were $30 more.
Solid, stable shoe, works well with my Crampons. Noticed more efficient climbing with less effort and I ride an aluminum SC Bronson. Kudos!
Like the brand so far. Fit is definitely a 1/2 size smaller then five tens, but support and feel are nice. Grip is solid and looks like a well built shoe. Thumbs up for now.....
